It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Paul Bakker CText FTI, Director and Co-Founder of the ITF Academy.(Right of picture)
Paul was a leader in the textile industry, he had an enormous depth of knowledge, in particular, within the Wool carpet industry. As well as being Director of the ITFA he was also Chairman and Founder of WoolSafe a highly respected global textile organisation.
On a personal note:
I met Paul first in 1989 when we were colleagues at the International Wool Secretariat (IWS Woolmark), we later worked together at Wools of New Zealand before creating the ITF Academy in 2018.
Paul was a true gentleman, his knowledge and ability to recall and produce technical information was remarkable. His attention to detail, flawless. He really had a vision and a drive that was both remarkable and inspiring.
It was Paul's enthusiasm that really drove the idea of creating ITFA, -for it to become a meaningful training and technical resource for the carpet and yarn industry in a global sense, I was very happy to be 'engulfed' in his vision.
Paul was a very good man, a very good friend and most respected colleague who I will miss greatly as will his many friends and colleagues internationally, who would echo my feelings I know.
ITFA sends its heartfelt sympathies to Paul's dear family and friends.
