Dr Ágnes Zsednai


Dr Ágnes Zsednai was educated in Hungary and received her degree in Chemistry at the University of Szeged where she first worked in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. Later she worked at the Department of Colloid and Surface Chemistry at the same University, teaching undergraduates and doing research work.

Dr Eric M Brown

Dr Eric Michael Brown has an honours degree in Textile Chemistry, a Masters degree in Textile Technology, and a Doctorate in Textile Technology, all from the University of Leeds; a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Bradford and an honours degree in English Literature from the Open University.

Dr Brown was employed by BTTG-Wira as Head of Technical Services, responsible for several laboratories concerned with the investigation of all aspects of textile performance from raw material to finished product, and including the laboratories of the British Carpet Technical Centre.

He has been the Director and Chief Executive of Cleaning Research International Ltd. since 1987.  He has also acted as a Consultant for a large number of organisations in connection with carpets, in matters concerning their performance, cleaning, or installation and provided expert evidence in a number of cases where disputes have arisen about the performance, durability, cleanliness or installation of carpets. He has been involved in the development of building cleaning specifications for many blue chip and more than 25 Universities and Colleges. He is also a WoolSafe Registered Carpet Inspector.

Dr Brown is the author of five textbooks, (Fundamentals of Carpet Maintenance, An Introduction to Carpet Cleaning, Cleaning Specifications, Conducting a Cleaning Audit and An Encyclopaedia of Cleaning Technology and Terminology) and three manuals (The Identification of Carpet Faults, Diagnostic Techniques for the Investigation of Carpet Complaints, and Case Studies for Carpet Inspectors).  He was also the Editor of the textbook New Initiatives in Cleaning Management.

For many years he has run training courses on all aspects of the in-use performance of textile floor coverings and the investigation of flooring faults and the resolution of complaints.

Dr Errol Wood

Dr Errol Wood has a BSc (First Class Hons in Physics) and a PhD (Physics) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand; a Diploma in Teaching from Christchurch Teachers College.

Dr Wood has extensive experience as a teacher and lecturer, having been a teacher of mathematics and physics at Cashmere High School, Education Manager at AgResearch Ltd, and the Manager, Education, Information & Partnership Services at Wool Research Organisation, New Zealand.

He is currently the presenter of twice-yearly short courses in basic textiles at AUT University, Auckland and also presents short courses on technical writing to scientific and engineering groups on behalf of Organisation Development Institute, Christchurch.

He has also prepared a series of electronic lectures and associated learning and assessment resources for 21 topics in wool and textiles degree for the University of New England School of Rural Science and Agriculture at Armidale (NSW) Australia and conducted the annual residential course on wool processing at Lincoln for UNE students until 2014.

Dr Wood has been the Scientist/Senior Scientist/Research Leader in Textile Physics Group, Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand, Lincoln; the Head, Physics and Measurement Division, WRONZ; the Manager, Wool Science and Technology Division, WRONZ, and Professor and Head, Department of Wool Science & Technology, Lincoln University

During his career in wool and textile research he published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and as technical reports. He has also contributed chapters to two international texts: The International Sheep and Wood Handbook (Editor D J Cottle, published by Nottingham University Press); Advances in Carpet Manufacture (Editor K K Goswami, published by Elsevier).

Peter Goodman

Peter Goodman is a graduate of Massey University, New Zealand, where he completed a  diploma course in wool studies.

After working initially in New Zealand wool sales, he took up a post at the International Wool Secretariat Technical Centre, Ilkley, England, working in textile floorcovering R&D. He became a renowned and acknowledged world class expert in the field of product specification and performance.

Mr Goodman was instrumental in the development of many the test methods used today for the evaluation of wool carpets and rugs and played a key role nationally and internationally in their publication.

He has published many papers and reports, including several Technical Reports for ITF Academy, on the subjects of carpet specification, performance and standardisation, and has been an advisor to a number of national and international organisations. He has also done extensive lecturing and given many presentations worldwide.

Dr Ágnes Zsednai

Dr Ágnes Zsednai was educated in Hungary and received her degree in Chemistry at the University of Szeged where she first worked in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. Later she worked at the Department of Colloid and Surface Chemistry at the same University, teaching undergraduates and doing research work.

She obtained her doctoral degree in colloid chemistry for the theoretical research on the displacement enthalpies of binary liquid mixtures on solid surfaces.

Having moved to England in 1985, she worked in research at ICI Agrochemicals in Bracknell, Berkshire, where she investigated the rheological properties of pesticide suspensions.

She joined The WoolSafe Organisation in February 2002. In 2006 she was appointed Technical Director and was responsible for the WoolSafe chemical testing programme. Since August 2010 she has been WoolSafe’s Managing Director.

Dr Zsednai has been teaching the WoolSafe Fibre Care Specialist training course for carpet cleaners for many years and given numerous presentations on a range of topics related to cleaning chemical testing and carpet cleaning research in different parts of the world.

She is also the author of various scientific and technical publications both in her previous research fields and also in relation to the care and maintenance of textile floor coverings.
